Amy De Jaeger

Amy received her first Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology at the University of Manitoba in 2002 and then worked as a program liaison for underprivileged and high-risk families. Amy returned to the University of Manitoba and received her second Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in Developmental Psychology.

Amy is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Warren Eaton. Throughout her graduate research Amy has examined the role of mother age in explaining the links between locomotor restriction and the age at which children first begin to walk. For the last two years Amy has also worked with Dr. Melanie Glenwright to explore factors related to children’s understanding of inconsistent speech acts.

Amy received her MA (February 2010) and is now working on her PhD in Developmental Psychology. Amy is currently using internet research methods to examine the influence of maternal age on the motor and cognitive development of pre-school children.

When she is not working, Amy spends time playing with her son, whose curiosity with life inspires her ongoing interest in development across the lifespan.
